Here Comes the Boom! Boomtown Biscuits and Whiskey

We recently got to hang out in Pendleton at Boomtown Biscuits and Whiskey. As soon as you enter you are welcomed by the warmth of the biscuits, which was perfect for the chilly January weather in Cincinnati. We sat down at a long table by the front of the restaurant with views of two other awesome restaurants that share the same corner, Lucius Q and Nation Kitchen and Bar. Pendleton is THE place right now for great comfort food, barbecue, beer and murals to check out.

Boomtown easily stands out with its menu with a variety of classic items with unique twists like “Aunt Sally’s Shrimp” which featured Thai inspired flavors that paired perfectly with the smoked cheddar grits. Their staple and namesake did not disappoint either. We ordered the “Trail Pickins” which was a handful of biscuits with a variety of different spreads, including house pickles and herbed butters. The featured item of the month was the “Unforgiven”. A country fried steak on a biscuit with their house peppercorn gravy and a fried egg. Neither item disappointed nor left us feeling to heavy like most gravy laden meals would. The star was definitely their rendition of Shrimp and Grits, the unique pairing stuck in my mind the rest of the day. All of the dishes we had were complimented well with a whiskey flight and the “Boomtown Gold Rush” which contained Bulleit, Herbed Honey, and Lemon Juice.

Check it out for yourself, you won’t regret it!
